Paul Furneret returns to Paris after a four-year interval. He again contacts Camille Flammarion, Madame Zosima, who now employs hypnosis to enable women to "remember" their alleged past incarnations, and Baron de Rochemure, who has recognized his daughter in a sketch Paul produced and is very enthusiastic for him to try again.
