John Kenneth Galbraith

John Kenneth Galbraith (1908-2006) foi um reputado economista, de pendor keynesiano e figura de proa de um movimento reformista norte-americano de início do século XX, o progressivismo, que visava atenuar os efeitos daquilo a que se chamaria hoje o neoliberalismo. Escreveu vasta obra sobre temas económicos, mas reflectiu também sobre os mecanismos do poder. Serviu cinco Administrações dos EUA, de F. D. Roosevelt a Lyndon Johnson, e exerceu ainda o cargo de embaixador dos EUA na Índia, durante a Administração Kennedy. Foi por duas vezes agraciado com a Presidential Medal of Freedom, por Harry S. Truman, em 1946, e por Bill Clinton, em 2000.
