ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Walpola Rahula

Walpola Rahula (1907-1997) foi um monge budista, estudioso e escritor. Ele é um dos intelectuais do Sri Lanka do século XX. Em 1964, tornou-se professor de História e Religiões da Universidade Northwestern, sendo assim pioneiro a realização de uma cátedra no mundo ocidental. Ocupou o cargo de vice-reitor no então Vidyodaya University (atualmente conhecida como Universidade do Sri Jayewardenepura). Tem uma vasta obra sobre o budismo.
