John Berryman's Dream Songs are perhaps the funniest, saddest, most intricately wrought cycle of poems by an American in the twentieth century. This title collects 77 Dream Songs, which won Berryman the Pulitzer Prize in 1965, and their continuation, His Toy, His Dream, His Rest, which won the National Book Award and the Bollingen Prize in 1969.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

John Berryman

His Toy, His Dream, His Rest (1969). A sua obra poética – que, tal como a vida do poeta, foi profundamente marcada pelo suicídio do pai, quando Berryman tinha 11 anos – compreende livros como The Dispossessed (1948), Homage to Mistress Bradstreet (1956) e Henry’s Fate & Other Poems, 1967-1972 (1977), entre outros. John Berryman suicidou-se em 1972.
