Sefarad

Antonio Muñoz Molina was born in Úbeda, in the Andalusian province of Jaén, in 1956. Recognized worldwide as one of the greatest contemporary writers in the Spanish language, he is the author of more than fifteen novels, two collections of short stories, as well as numerous essays and journalistic writings. Among his narrative works published in Portugal are Beatus Ille (1986), Winter in Lisbon (1987), Beltenebros (1989), The Polish Knight (1991), The Mysteries of Madrid (1992), Nothing from Another World (short stories, 1993), The Owner of the Secret (1994), Warrior's Ardor (1995), Full Moon (1997), Carlota Fainberg (2000), In the Absence of Blanca (2001), Sefarad (2001) and The Wind of the Moon (2006). Twice winner of the National Narrative Prize (1988 and 1992) and awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for his body of work (2013), he has been a member of the Royal Spanish Academy since 1995. He lives between Madrid and Lisbon and is married to the writer Elvira Lindo.
