E.L. Doctorow

E. L. Doctorow nasceu em Nova Iorque, em 1931. Considerado um dos mais talentosos escritores da segunda metade do século XX, é autor de romances que combinam História e crítica social, tendo sido galardoado com vários prémios como o National Book Award, National Book Critics Circle Award, PEN/Faulkner Award (duas vezes), entre outros. Com Billy Bathgate foi também finalista do Pulitzer.
A sua obra está publicada em mais de 32 países e cinco dos seus romances foram adaptados ao cinema.
Doctorow dedica-se à escrita e ao ensino da literatura na Universidade de Nova Iorque. E. L. Doctorow faleceu a 21 de julho de 2015.
