Pierre-Joseph Proudhon

Pierre-Joseph Proudhon (1809–1865) nasceu em Besançon, onde completou o ensino primário, antes de se ver obrigado abandonar os estudos para trabalhar. Autodidata por necessidade, o futuro precursor dos movimentos anarquistas pôde regressar aos estudos em 1838. Autor de mais de sessenta obras, opôs-se às doutrinas comunistas emergentes, orientou-se para um socialismo mutualista e, no plano político, para o federalismo. É um dos mais destacados teóricos revolucionários do século XIX e a sua influência permanece até hoje.
