ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Platão

Plato was born in 428 BC in Athens, the city where he also died, probably in 348 BC. One of the most important figures of the classical period of Ancient Greece, he was a philosopher and mathematician, author of several philosophical dialogues and founder of the Academy in Athens, the first institution of higher education in the Western world. Together with his mentor, Socrates, and his disciple, Aristotle, Plato laid the foundations of Western philosophy. Among his most important works, besides... The Banquet, they count Republic, Phaedo, Gorgias, Ion or Apology of Socrates.
