ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christopher Day

Born in 1942.
She studied architecture and then sculpture in London. Committed to eco-architecture (and ecological lifestyle) since 1970. She built four ecological houses (by hand: without machinery), then led volunteers to build two Steiner schools. He became an architect (freelance) through an unconventional, indeed unprecedented, path: designing and building, not taking exams. He has received six design awards (including one prize). Prince of Wales and the first prize EisteddfodA pioneer of a consensus-based design method – which, because it doesn't depend on knowing anything, is now used for all design.
He has worked (design, consulting, lecturing, teaching) in 20 countries. Appointed visiting professor, Queens University, Belfast, 2003-8. Eight books published (one translated into German, Italian, Russian, Thai, Chinese and a Spanish translation in progress; others into Czech, Greek and Welsh).
