ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Ignacio Ramonet

Ignacio Ramonet was born in Spain in 1943. He holds a doctorate in Semiology and Cultural History.École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, Paris), is a professor of Communication Theory at Denis-Diderot University (Paris-VII) and associate professor of Carlos III University from Madrid and from University of Saint Petersburg (Polar Academy).

He is the author of several works on media and geopolitics, including... Le Chewing-gum des yeux (1981); La Communication victime des dealers (1989); How do we sell the motorcycle? (with Noam Chomsky, 1995); Nouveaux pouvoirs, nouveaux maîtres du monde (1996); A world without direction (1997); Geopolitics of chaos (1997).

He is the newspaper's director. Le Monde diplomatique, whose Portuguese edition is published by Field of Communication.
