ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Christopher Isherwood

Christopher Isherwood, Cheshire, 1904–1986. He began writing during his college years, and his prolific work developed in several genres: novels, short stories, travelogues, and theater. He moved to Berlin at a young age, where he supported himself by teaching English. In Germany, he witnessed firsthand the rise of Hitler, and some of his novels reflect this experience—for example... Farewell to Berlin, with the celebrated film adaptation in the musical Cabaret. In the late 1930s, she traveled through China with W.H. Auden, after which she settled in the USA. There, in the 1960s, during a critical phase of her relationship with Don Bachardy - the man with whom she lived for more than twenty years - Christopher Isherwood wrote this short and powerful novel, A Singular Man, with which Quetzal begins the publication of its works.
