Zeruya Shalev

Zeruya Shalev é, a par de Amos Oz e David Grossman, um dos escritores israelitas mais lidos no mundo. Autora de cinco romances, os seus livros estão traduzidos em 25 línguas.
Nasceu no Kibbutz Kinneret. Tem um mestrado em estudos bíblicos e trabalha como editora literária na editora Keter. A 29 de janeiro de 2004, quando regressava a casa, em Rehavia, Jerusalém, depois de ter levado a filha ao jardim de infância, um bombista suicida palestiniano fez explodir um autocarro urbano quando ela passava nas proximidades. Shalev demorou quatro meses a recuperar dos ferimentos.
A sua carreira conta com inúmeras distinções e prémios, entre os quais se destacam o Prix Femina étranger e o Jan Michalski Prize for Literature. Em 2017, foi condecorada pelo governo francês com a distinção de Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres.
