While travelling in Laos on a mountain road, the bus that the journalist Alison Wright was riding had collided with a logging truck. As she waited 14 hours for medical care, she was certain moments away from death. Despite countless surgeries, she set herself the goal of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and she reached the peak on her fortieth birthday.
