ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Maxime Rodinson

Maxime Rodinson nasceu em Paris em 1915 e morreu em Marselha em 2004, filho de emigrantes judeus oriundos da Rússia e da Polónia. Frequentou a École des Langues Orientales, onde se diplomou. Doutorou-se em Letras e cursou na École Pratiques des Hautes Études, onde acabou a sua carreira como diretor de estudos. Foi igualmente professor nas universidades de Princeton e Amesterdão. Publicou várias obras sobre o Islão, entre as quais se destaca Maomé, ainda hoje considerado a melhor biografia que até hoje se publicou do fundador do islamismo.
