Adalberto Alves was born in 1939 in Lisbon, from an ancestry where Celtic and Arab cultures intertwine. He soon discovered the orientation of Asian civilizations, and in them he found his spiritual homeland. He studied the Orient and has experienced it intensely through the numerous journeys he has undertaken. A jurist, poet, and lecturer, he has presented papers at various institutions, notably universities, in Portugal, the European Union, and Arab countries. He has a vast body of published work, particularly his works dedicated to Sufism and Luso-Arabic poetry, some of which are included in reference works, both foreign and national, in the field. His contribution to the study and dissemination of this aspect of our cultural heritage has been invaluable.
