Haunted Hikes

Strange things happen in the woods--paranormal sightings along rarely used dirt paths through the backcountry; eerie noises near busy urban pathways just minutes from downtowns; pungent, undefined smells blanketing forest trails. Haunted Hikes tells the stories of 100 prominent haunted areas across the country's wildest areas--from the Ghost House Trail in Big Ride State Park, Tennessee, where photographs of the cemetery yield silhouettes of families laid to rest there, to the Transept Trail at Grand Canyon National Park, where the image of a wailing woman in a white dress with blue flowers is often seen pacing the trail. The book identifies the trails and tells the history of the land and the spooky tale. It also identifies the location, gives some brief hike spec information (distance, difficulty, etc.), and identifies the trailhead GPS, if applicable--but that's it. The book won't take you on a mile-by-mile journey throughout each hike--you're on your own for that one, if you dare to step foot on these haunted trails.
