A série demorou mais dez anos a ser completada e foi concluída em 2007, com a publicação de Harry Potter e os Talismãs da Morte. É também autora de três livros cujas receitas revertem a favor de instituições de caridade: O Quidditch através dos Tempos, Monstros Fantásticos e Onde Encontrá-los (a favor da Comic Relief e da Lumos) e Os Contos de Beedle, o Bardo (a favor da Lumos).
