Franny e Zooey

American writer Jerome David Salinger, born in 1919, was a symbol of American youth in the 1950s, portraying and capturing their language, problems, and experiences. The son of a Jewish father and an Irish Catholic mother, at eighteen he had the opportunity to spend five months in Europe. Upon returning to the United States, he enrolled at New York University and in 1939 took part in a short story writing course at Columbia University, where his professor was Whit Burnett, founder of Story Magazine.
He fought in World War II and was involved in the Normandy invasion.
Salinger is one of the great classics of American literature, with "The Catcher in the Rye" being his best-known book and the one that best reveals the life of the wealthy New York bourgeoisie, the social emptiness, and the false values ​​found among the youth of the time. His ironic realism is also found in works such as "Nine Stories" (1953), "Franny and Zooey" (1961), "Raise High the Roof Beam," "Carpenters" (1963), and "For Esmé - With Love and Squalor" (1986). He is also the author of numerous short stories, many of which were published in prestigious magazines such as "Esquire" and "The New Yorker."
