ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Francisco Costa

Francisco Costa, the only writer who is genuinely from SintraIn the words of Miguel Real, he was born in Sintra in 1900 and lived there until his death in 1987.
For several years, he was the librarian-archivist at the Sintra Municipal Library.
A writer with deep Catholic convictions, he published books of poems and essays, as well as several novels.
Of these, special mention goes to this one. The Heron and the Snake (1943), Eça de Queiroz Prize winner and already published in this same collection, and Invisible Prison (1949), Ricardo Malheiros Prize from the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
