Jim Crace was born in 1946 in the United Kingdom and is unanimously considered one of his country's most original voices. He studied English Literature and published his first literary work in 1974. In the following 10 years, he wrote several short stories and radio plays. Between 1976 and 1986 he worked as a freelance journalist and, from then on, dedicated himself exclusively to fiction. He is the multi-award-winning author of several novels, including: *Continent*, winner of the 1986 Whitbread First Novel Award and the Guardian Fiction Prize in the same year; *Quarantine*, winner of the 1998 Whitbread Novel Prize and a Booker Prize finalist; and *Being Dead*, the novel that was honored with the National Book Critics Circle Award in 2001. Harvest (Harvest) placed him as one of the favorites and a finalist for the 2013 Booker Prize.
