ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Scott Adams

Born in 1957 in New York, Scott Adams studied Economics and worked for eight years at Crocker National Bank. He earned an MBA from Berkeley and worked for nine years as an engineer at Pacific Bell, though his relationships with superiors were far from ideal. In 1988, Scott Adams presented Dilbert and Dogbert comic strips to various companies. His characters were inspired by his coworkers, resulting in a scathing critique of the way large corporations operate. Initially, his work was rejected by almost all publishers. However, United Media offered him a contract, which he immediately accepted. At the age of 45, he became a millionaire thanks to the "mouthless little man" that People magazine included on its list of the 25 most interesting people in the country, alongside pop star Madonna. His work has earned him numerous awards, including the Newspaper Comic Strip Award in 1997.
