ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Luís Machado

Luís Machado was born on November 10th in Lisbon. Organizer of important cultural events, he has been intensely active in recent years as a cultural promoter, particularly in the dissemination of poetry. A man of culture, he was an actor, journalist, and film critic. For 27 years, he has been hosting literary gatherings at the Martinho da Arcada café in Lisbon.

He coordinated the "Evocations" initiative, which marked the centenary of Eça de Queirós' death, the 100th anniversary of José Gomes Ferreira's birth, and the fiftieth anniversary of Aquilino Ribeiro's death. He was responsible for "Itineraries," an event that reconstructed the emotional journeys of António Ramos Rosa, Eugénio de Andrade, Fernando Namora, Fernando Pessoa, José Régio, Miguel Torga, and Natália Correia. He served on the jury of several literary awards and was the curator of the "Culturalities" exhibition (1998) and "The Poetry Festival" (2002/2005).

Among his published works, the following stand out as writers: The Last Conversation, Conversations on Thursday, At the table with Fernando Pessoa, Faces of Portuguese Identity, A Man in the Kitchen and Amália - Confidences on a Spring NightShe has been a member of the board of directors of the Portuguese Writers' Association since 1999.
