Roald Dahl

Roald Dahl (1916-1990) was born in Wales to Norwegian parents. During the World War II was a pilot for the RAF (Royal Air Force). He was married twice and had 5 children.
He began writing in 1942. His first book for children was "Gremlins" but the his most famous children's works are Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, and James and the Giant Peach.
He was successful as a writer of macabre short stories for adults, with more than 60 short stories, some published only after his death. The Smoker was adapted into one of the Hitchcock Presents episodes and Tarantino's film Four Rooms (1995). He founded Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity for research in the fields of neurology and hematology. In 2008, The Roald Dahl Funny Prize was inaugurated: a Annual award for authors of children's humorous fiction.
Roald Dahl is one of the best-selling writers in the world.
