Boneca de Luxo

Truman Capote was born in New Orleans on September 30, 1924. In 1948 he published his debut novel, Other Voices, Other Places, and achieved immediate international literary success, quickly establishing himself as one of the most original American authors of the postwar period. The Herb Harp (1951), his second novel which would give rise to his first play for the theater, Luxury Doll (1958), adapted for film by Blake Edwards and starring Audrey Hepburn, and In Cold Blood (1966), a pioneering masterpiece in the art of narrative reportage. A member of the National Institute of Arts and Letters, he received the O. Henry Memorial Award for best short stories three times. He died in Los Angeles on August 25, 1984.
