Andre Alexis


André Alexis
nasceu na República de Trindade e Tobago e cresceu no Canadá. Começou a carreira artística no teatro e chegou a ser dramaturgo residente da companhia Canadian Stage. Em 1994, publicou uma coleção de contos intitulada Despair and Other Stories of Ottawa, obra que foi finalista do prémio Commonwealth.
O seu romance de estreia, Childhood, foi premiado com o Books in Canada First Novel Award, o Trillium Book Award e foi finalista do Giller Prize e do Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize.
Escreveu ainda Asylum, Beauty and Sadness, Ingrid & the Wolf e, mais recentemente, Pastoral, que também foi nomeado para o Rogers Writers’ Trust Fiction Prize. Este último romance foi o início de uma série de cinco obras de ficção sobre temas filosóficos, sendo Quinze Cães a segunda.
