ABOUT THE AUTHOR

E. H. Gombrich

E.H. Gombrich was born in Vienna in 1909 and died on November 3, 2001, in London. Author of the international classic "The History of Art» and others «bestseller"He was perhaps the best-known art historian of his time."
In 1936 he went to work in London at the invitation of Warburg Institute, of which he later became director. He also worked for the BBC He was a professor of Classical History at the University of London.
Among the many honors he received are the Erasmus Prize, the Hegel Prize, the Wittgenstein Prize, and the Goethe Prize. In 1972 he was knighted and, in 1998, he received the Order of Merit of Great Britain.
