Victor D. O. Santos nasceu no Brasil, onde viveu até aos 25 anos. Esteve a viver na Alemanha e Países Baixos durante alguns anos, mas depois mudou-se para os EUA onde fez o doutoramento em linguística. Aqui assentou e aqui desenvolve o seu trabalho como linguista profissional e autor premiado de livros ilustrados.
