ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Gilles Lipovetsky

He is a renowned French philosopher and sociologist, a member of the Conseil d'Analyse de la Société, an advisory body to the French Prime Minister, and the author of a vast work on the transformations of contemporary society. In addition to a new edition of The Age of Emptiness, he published Edições 70 A Felicidade Paradoxal. Essay on the Hyperconsumption Society (2006), The World-Culture. Response to a Disoriented Society and The Global Screen, the latter two with Jean Serroy (2010); The Hypermodern Times (2011), the globalized West. Controversy over Planetary Culture (2011); The Eternal Luxury. From the Age of the Sacred to the Time of Marks, co-authored with Elyette Roux (2012); and The Society of Deception (2012). From her work, The Empire of the Ephemeral and The Third Woman are also highlighted.
