Dorothée de Monfreid nasceu em França em 1973. Foi designer gráfica antes de se dedicar à escrita e ilustração de livros infantis. Publicou dezenas de livros para crianças e também é autora de banda desenhada. O seu espetáculo musical infantil, Super Sauvage, tem sido exibido por toda a França e ela também é uma notável tocadora de uquelele. Dorothée vive e trabalha em Paris.
