Discover amiibo, a new way to interact with your favorite Nintendo characters and games. If you tap the NFC point on the Wii U GamePad with the figure while playing certain games, the chip's data will be transferred to the game to be used in various ways. As you play, your figure's data will also be updated, making your amiibo more and more unique.

- Tap the Wii U Gamepad's NFC point with the figure and discover how it comes to life. Data from the chip will be transferred to the game for use in various ways.

Unlike other lines of figures with NFC technology, you can use the same amiibo in many games: how they are used depends on the game.

For example, in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you can transfer your amiibo's data so that it appears in the game and train it to fight for you, or as your ally or enemy. As your amiibo fights, it develops its own unique skills and attributes, becoming stronger and learning new moves.

- No additional accessories are needed to work on the Wii U: it connects to the Gamepad. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be compatible with amiibo from the game's launch.

More games compatible with amiibo will be available, including Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, Mario Party 10, Hyrule Warriors, and Yoshi’s Woolly World for Wii U, with more on the way.

- In addition to working on the Wii U, amiibo will also be usable with the Nintendo 3DS and 2DS thanks to an accessory that is scheduled for release in 2015. More details about the compatible software planned for the Nintendo 3DS will be announced in the future.
