The Pharmacy Museum proposes an attractive and unusual journey through 5000 years of health history.

Its vast collection includes objects of rare artistic, anthropological and scientific value, presenting a path, where each civilization is portrayed under a narrative of fighting disease and seeking cure and pain relief, from the first traces of life on earth, to the present day, passing through cultures and civilizations as distinct in time and space as Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome, the Incas, the Aztecs, Islam, Africa, Tibet, China, Japan, among others.

At the Porto Pharmacy Museum, you are challenged to start the tour next to pieces that are about 40 million years old, and to get to know testimonies of objects that differ in their shapes and functions: from surgical instruments, which take us back to the conquests of the Roman Empire, to masks of healers and sorcerers from the different African tribes. Throughout the exhibition, it is intended that a true journey through the history of humanity will materialize.

It is also possible to enter the extraordinary Islamic Pharmacy, which originated in the Ottoman Empire and was part of the interior of a palace in Damascus in the nineteenth century, as well as the Estácio do Porto Pharmacy, which was located on Rua Sá da Bandeira.
