ABOUT THE EVENT
The Alto Minho Youth Orchestra (AMYO) is an ambitious project based in Viana do Castelo. Over the years, it has brought together young musicians from around the world who, guided by internationally renowned musicians, perform some of the most emblematic works of the symphonic repertoire at the highest level.
To mark its fifth anniversary, these young people, under the direction of conductor Miguel Sepúlveda, will explore some of the most elementary and timeless questions of the human condition: “What is life and what is death? Will we live eternally? Is it all an empty dream or do life and death have some meaning?” Starting from these premises, Mahler constructs the monumental Symphony No. 2"Resurrection".
By joining forces with its sister project, the Alto Minho International Choir, and alongside soprano Sílvia Sequeira and... mezzo-soprano Cláudia Ribas, aka AMYO, invites the audience to a period of introspection or, simply, a moment of pure enjoyment in the presence of one of the most transcendent works in the symphonic canon.
