Ziraldo Alves Pinto (1932, Caratinga, Minas Gerais) dedica-se há décadas à literatura e à ilustração. É artista gráfico, humorista, escritor, ilustrador, cartunista, caricaturista, dramaturgo e jornalista. Premiado no Brasil e no exterior, recebeu, entre outros, o conceituado Prémio Ibero-americano de Humor Gráfico Quevedos, pela «qualidade e importância da obra, seu compromisso social, sua difusão e grande repercussão internacional». Publicou o primeiro desenho na imprensa aos seis anos e esteve presente diariamente ao longo de décadas nos jornais do Brasil, de forma irreverente, construindo uma legião de fãs para as suas personagens. Em 1960, lançou a pioneira revista de banda desenhada Pererê, que alcançou tiragens mensais de 120 mil exemplares. A banda desenhada é, aliás, a mais antiga paixão de Ziraldo.
