ZÉLIA ÉVORA nasceu no Canadá em maio de 1969. Mãe de dois filhos, Alice de 4 anos e Rafael de 10, faz tricot e costura desde os 8 anos. Durante 24 anos, trabalhou como administrativa, altura em que se estabeleceu por conta própria, fazendo chapéus e outros acessórios no seu atelier nas Caldas da Rainha. Em outubro de 2013, com Filipe Almeida Santos, cria o «Gang da Malha», cujo objetivo era «assaltar» os cafés da sua cidade com pessoas que faziam tricot, tirando-as de casa para ocupar espaços públicos.
Em 2016, criou o projeto Re-Uz, no qual dá uma nova vida a roupas velhas. Em 2016, editou, com a Esfera dos Livros, A Terapia do Tricot.
