Yves Sente nasceu em Bruxelas em 1964.
Depois de concluir seus estudos em Ciência Política em fevereiro de 1991, ingressou no mundo editorial como editor-chefe das Éditions du Lombard, da qual se tornou diretor editorial dois anos depois.
Em 1998, propôs anonimamente à Dargaud o argumento do livro "Conspiração Voronov". Esta história, que se passa na URSS no auge da Guerra Fria, foi aceita pelo editor e designer André Juillard e começou aí a parceria entre ambos nas Aventuras de B&M.
