Yoo Yeong-Gwang nasceu em Seongnam, em 1984. Escreveu O Mercado da Chuva nos intervalos do seu trabalho como estafeta. Sentiu-se verdadeiramente feliz enquanto o escrevia e deseja que todos os leitores encontrem, através dele, cura e coragem para procurarem a sua própria felicidade.
