Yongzheng
Yongzheng (1678-1735), whose name means Harmony and JusticeYongzheng, the third Chinese emperor of the Qing Dynasty, was an energetic and competent ruler, highly aware of the Empire's most pressing needs. As a first measure, he consolidated the emperor's personal power by removing the high command of the "banners," the elite Manchu troops, in favor of members of the imperial family, and keeping them at court for close surveillance. He fought his adversaries and did not hesitate to execute anyone who posed a threat to his power. Furthermore, his reign is characterized by a continuous respect for his father's policies, improving the administration of the empire through strict control of corruption. He implemented many mechanisms to maintain ironclad control over the conduct of officials and granted rewards to those who distinguished themselves by their honesty.
