Yiyun Li
Yiyun Li was born in Beijing in 1972 and has lived in the United States since 1996. She is a professor of literature and writing at Princeton University.
He made his debut with the book of short stories A thousand years of good prayers, distinguished with several awards: PEN/Hemingway Award, Frank O'Connor International Short Story Award, Guardian First Book Award or Whitting Award. He would later publish the collections Gold boy, emerald girl and Wednesday's child (finalist for the Pulitzer Prize). His first novel, The vagrants, was a finalist for the International Dublin Literary Award. This was followed by Kinder than solitude, Where reasons end (PEN/Jean Stein Book Award), Must I go and The book of goose (PEN/Faukner Award for Fiction). He also published the memoirs Dear friend, from my life I write to you in your life and Tudo na natureza só continua, which marks his debut in Portugal, at Alfaguara.
Yiyun Li has received prestigious distinctions, such as the MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and the Guggenheim Fellowship. In 2007, she was included by Granta in the selection of the 21 best young American novelists and, in 2010, the New Yorker distinguished her in the "20 under 40". She was awarded the American Academy of Arts and Letters's Award, the Windham-Campbell Literature Prize for Fiction , and the PEN/Malamud Award. His books have been translated into more than twenty languages.
