Yasmin Crowther (Sussex, 1969) cresceu no seio de uma família anglo-iraniana (mãe iraniana e pai inglês). Visitou regularmente o Irão durante a infância, antes da revolução (1979), e a ele voltou para escrever este romance. É directora da sede londrina de uma grande organização internacional de desenvolvimento sustentado, a SustainAbility. Durante os anos 90 trabalhou com a oposição iraniana no exterior. Foi também funcionária da Shell UK e de várias outras importantes empresas internacionais. A Cozinha Açafrão é o seu aclamado romance de estreia.
