Willa Cather (1873-1947) foi uma aclamada escritora norte-americana. Os seus romances exploram a vida no Oeste americano, a imigração e a experiência rural. Um dos Nossos, romance sobre o idealismo, a juventude e o contraste entre as culturas americanas e europeias, que narra a participação americana na I Guerra Mundial, destaca-se no conjunto da sua obra, tendo sido galardoada com o Prémio Pulitzer. Cather é considerada uma das grandes vozes literárias do século XX.
