Walter Tevis
Walter Tevis was born in San Francisco in 1928. He graduated with a degree in English Literature from the University of Kentucky. He began writing short stories that were published in magazines such as The Saturday Evening Post, Esquire, Redbook, Cosmopolitan and PlayboyAfter his first novel, which dates from 1959, he publishes The Man Who Fell to Earth, published in 1963 by Editorial Presença. Professor of English Literature and Creative Writing at Ohio University for fourteen years, he then moved to New York to dedicate himself to writing again. Author of seven novels, including three that were adapted into highly successful films, his works have been translated into 18 languages. He died in 1984.
