Walter Scott

Walter Scott (1771-1832) é reconhecido como o pai do romance histórico moderno.
Doutor em Leis, foi advogado, juíz e xérife mas é recordado pelas suas obras literárias. A sua produção estende-se do romance à poesia e ao teatro.
Walter Scott é sobretudo célebre pelos seus romances históricos que encantaram gerações de leitores e contribuíram para um maior conhecimento do passado de Inglaterra e da Escócia.
Obras como Ivanhoe, O Talismã ou Rob Roy, entre muitas outras, tiveram várias dezenas de adaptações cinematográficas, televisivas e teatrais e contam-se ainda hoje entre os livros de aventuras preferidos pelos leitores de todos os tempos.
