Victor-Hugo Forjaz

Victor-Hugo Forjaz nasceu na ilha do Faial, em 1940.
Doutorado em Vulcanologia de Engenharia e agregado em Geotermia pela Universidade dos Açores, é Professor Catedrático do Departamento de Geociências.
Foi diretor do Programa Geotérmico dos Açores e coordenador da Rede Universitária de Vigilância Vulcânica e Sísmica, co-fundador da Sociedade Internacional de Planetologia e co-fundador do Centro de Vulcanologia do Instituto Nacional de Investigação Científica, fundador do Instituto de Geociências dos Açores e co-representante de Portugal na Rede Europeia de Vulcanologia.
É presidente do Observatório Vulcanológico e Geotérmico dos Açores.
Comendador da Ordem do Infante D. Henrique, é autor ou co-autor de 150 publicações científicas.
