Valentina Marcelino
Valentina Marcelino was born in Lisbon in 1968. Having worked as a journalist for almost four decades, holding a professional press card since 1986, she is currently the deputy director of... Daily News, which he joined in 2018. He began his career at the former news agency ANOP, followed by the newspaper Africa, Express and BBC World Service in London, where he was also a correspondent for Public and from TSF.
He was in Angola between 1989 and 1991, working on a local United Nations development project.
In 1994 she was honored by the Portuguese Press Club, winning the Press Revelation award with a report, in Express, about a colony for the children of Portuguese political prisoners. During his sixteen years as a journalist for this weekly newspaper, he did several reports abroad: he accompanied the GNR (National Republican Guard) in Iraq in 2005, and went to Sri Lanka and Indonesia after the tsunami 2004.
A National Defense Auditor since 2007, she specializes in internal security and defense issues. In 2023, she created the podcast "Sovereignty," which gave rise to the book Sovereignty – 45 Guests in 16 Conversations.
In 2024 she co-organized the work Freedom of the Press in Portugal and Europe, which brought together 63 authors, journalists and legal experts, to comment on thirty rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union.
