Un-su Kim nasceu em 1972 em Busan, uma cidade portuária a sul de Seoul. Formou-se em Literatura Coreana na Universidade de Kyung Hee, onde concluiu o mestrado. Autor de três romances aclamados pela crítica, recebeu vários galardões, entre os quais se destaca o Prémio Munhakdongne – o mais prestigiado prémio literário da Coreia – por The Cabinet, e o prémio literário Hahn Moo-sook por Hot Blood. Os Conspiradores foi nomeado para o Grand Prix de Littérature Policière.
