Tracy Hickman começou a trabalhar na TSR, Inc. como designer de jogos, onde ajudou a conceber o universo de Dragonlance. Escreveu, em colaboração com Margaret Weis, 11 livros da série, mas também a série Darksword e o Death Gate Cycle. Foi o designer responsável pela criação dos cenários do jogo Starshield e autor de The Immortals. Vive em Utah com a mulher e quatro filhos. Encontra-se a escrever uma trilogia para a Warner Books.
