Thierry Smolderen

Thierry Smolderen was born in Belgium in 1954. His earliest childhood memory is visiting Tintin's rocket at the Brussels World's Fair in 1958. In the 1970s he fell in love with the work of Moebius. Between 1973 and 1978 he attended an animation film course, and only in 1983 did he truly dedicate himself to comics as a critic. But his ambition was to be a screenwriter, and in 1986 Glénat Editions published his first story. This was the beginning of a career that included the highly successful series Gipsy. He is a professor at the European School of Image Arts and Technology in Angoulême.
