The Last Shadow Puppets

The Last Shadow Puppets is a British alternative rock band formed in 2007 by Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys), Miles Kane (The Rascals) and producer James Ford (Simian Mobile Disco). Known for their vintage sound and grandiose orchestrations, the band blends elements of 60s rock, baroque pop and indie, creating a cinematic and nostalgic atmosphere.

The project began as a collaboration between Turner and Kane, who met while touring with their respective bands. Inspired by artists such as Scott Walker, David Bowie, and Ennio Morricone, the two began composing music together, with James Ford handling production and drums. In 2008, they released their debut album, The Age of the Understatement, which received critical acclaim and debuted at the top of the UK charts. Songs like the title track and "Standing Next to Me" stood out for their melodic intensity and evocative lyrics.

Following the success of their first album, the members focused on their main projects, postponing further collaboration. It wasn't until 2016 that they released their second album, Everything You’ve Come to Expect, which featured a more relaxed and experimental sound, with songs like "Aviation" and "Miracle Aligner." This work was once again well-received, solidifying the duo's status as one of the most notable collaborations in the alternative scene.

The band's live performances stood out for the charisma of Turner and Kane, whose on-stage chemistry captured the imagination of fans. The energetic and theatrical interaction between the two made their shows memorable experiences, reinforcing the fascination surrounding the project.

Although they haven't announced plans for a new album, The Last Shadow Puppets remains an occasional collaboration that celebrates the creative friendship between Turner and Kane.
