The Hives

The Hives are a Swedish garage rock band formed in 1993 in Fagersta, Sweden. Known for their explosive energy, irreverent attitude, and captivating stage presence, they became one of the most iconic names in the garage rock revival of the 2000s. The classic lineup includes Howlin' Pelle Almqvist (vocals), Nicholaus Arson (guitar), Vigilante Carlstroem (rhythm guitar), Dr. Matt Destruction (bass, until 2013, replaced by Johan Gustafsson), and Chris Dangerous (drums).

The band began to gain notoriety with the release of Barely Legal (1997), but it was with the album Veni Vidi Vicious (2000) that they achieved international recognition. The album includes the hit "Hate to Say I Told You So," a track marked by powerful riffs and contagious punk energy, which became emblematic of the band's sound.

In 2001, The Hives compiled their early hits on the album Your New Favorite Band, which solidified their popularity in international markets such as the United Kingdom and the United States. The combination of an impeccable visual aesthetic – always dressed in black and white – with vibrant live performances helped cement their place as one of the most electrifying bands on the rock scene.

The album Tyrannosaurus Hives (2004) brought more hits, such as "Walk Idiot Walk" and "Two-Timing Touch and Broken Bones", while The Black and White Album (2007) explored new musical directions, mixing elements of pop and experimentalism without losing its characteristic energy.

After a hiatus, they released Lex Hives (2012), which returned to their garage rock roots, reaffirming their commitment to the sound that made them famous. Celebrated for their intensity and humor in live performances, The Hives remain one of the most exciting rock bands in the world, maintaining their unwavering energy and ability to captivate audiences on every stage they play.
