É fundador e CEO da Juniper Books, uma empresa que se especializou na curadoria de bibliotecas personalizadas e na criação de coleções de livros com design especial.
Tem defendido publicamente a importância da leitura, dos livros impressos e das bibliotecas, incluindo numa TED Talk intitulada “The Books We Keep, the Stories We Tell”.
Thatcher vive no Colorado e gosta de passar o tempo com os filhos, a brincar, sempre que possível, nas pistas de esqui e nos trilhos de montanha.
